Understanding Money website design
The challenge
The Financial Literacy Foundation’s Understanding Money website aims to help Australians manage their money better by helping people overcome the obstacles that they often face in improving their financial literacy. The site had a strong campaign focus and the foundation wanted the site redeveloped so that it was more interactive. This included the addition of new functionality and features to provide a richer learning experience and encourage repeat visits through memberships.
The solution
Stamford undertook analysis and design activities to evaluate and establish design recommendations for the Understanding Money website. The solution to helping people navigate the site more easily was integrating topic-based and life events navigation onto the homepage, allowing both experienced and novice users to identify the correct financial information to suit their needs, while also educating those not overly familiar with financial terminology to which components aligned with each lifecycle stage, i.e. Retirement = Will, Superannuation, etc. Stamford also carried out an evaluation of the usability and effectiveness of the site to create a baseline from which to measure future additions and designs. The final deliverables included an Implementation Plan and Continuous Improvement Plan, ensuring the new design is able to maintain integrity into the future.
