‘Do not call’ Register
The challenge
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) were preparing to release the online Do Not Call Register to Australian citizens. The Register allowed members of the public to add their own telephone number to an official list so that they would no longer receive annoying telemarketing phone calls. The Register was eagerly anticipated by Australians and the Authority wanted to make sure the registration process was user friendly and easy to use.
The solution
Stamford conducted usability testing on a working prototype of the online Register to determine how user friendly it was. Testing was conducted with representative users who were asked to register a telephone number using the prototype. After each session changes and revisions were made based on feedback and results of the usability tests. The result was a set of recommendations for improving the usability of the Register. The recommendations covered not only interface design recommendations, but also workflow recommendations to improve the overall experience and level of understanding for the user.
