Ten tips for mobile commerce

By: Lisa Wade

The Australian retail industry is struggling right now, so we were surprised to find that most Aussie retailers were falling behind worldwide trends by ignoring mobile commerce in their digital strategies. We decided to give them a hand with our top ten tips for mobile commerce.

  1. Help people find your stores by including a “get directions from my current location” function. You can take advantage of the mobile nature of a smartphone by integrating your site with a map from Whereis or Google.
  2. Ensure your store phone numbers are formatted to enable customers to tap and call. Many mobile customers will want to immediately talk to someone at their nearest store, so make sure your customers don’t have to copy and paste contact information.
  3. Clearly display the opening hours of the customer’s nearest store. Customers on the go are likely to be looking for the opening hours of their nearest store, so make sure they can find it easily.

UX Australia and our UX Superhero

By: Lisa Wade

It’s already been a week but we’re only just coming down from the UX Australia cloud. The Stamford crew had a great time at the conference, and we’re grateful to have been a sponsor of such a worthwhile event.

Many thanks to Donna Spencer and Steve Baty for organising another stand-out few days of thinking, learning and meeting fellow practitioners! At Stamford, we really value a team-driven collaborative approach to UX design, so it was a great opportunity to put our heads together with other UX professionals from Australia and overseas.

We hope everyone is enjoying their Stamford UX Superhero t-shirt. We think that anyone who works in our field is helping to make the world a nicer place to be, so all UX practitioners deserve some credit for being UX superheroes. Did you get to meet our resident superhero, UXr, while you were there?

We’re looking forward to seeing you all again at next year’s UX Australia!
